Spill something on your laptop? Here's what to do! *Turn it off IMMEDIATELY and disconnect the power: *Remove the battery.
On some computers, the bottom cover has to be removed to get to the battery.
*Hold it on one edge to let as much of the liquid drain out as possible.
*DO NOT "try" it after it seems to be dry.
Powering it up for just a second can destroy it! The second picture shows damage caused by spilling coffee on a laptop and using it after it appeared to be dried out.
Now, what did you spill? 1.
Water.
Even "pure" water has minerals in it.
The laptop has to be taken apart and the insides have to be cleaned and dried.
2.
Soda, juice, wine or beer: All of these have acids (carbonic acid, ctiric acid, etc.
) as well as sugars and starches.
Besides cleaning the internal components, your keyboard may need to be changed.
You can try using rice or sun exposure to dry your computer, but this only works if you spilled distilled water on it.
It won't help if you spilled soda, juice, tap water, etc.
