Job purpose
Medical Assistant II will master or demonstrate mastery of the duties of Medical Assistant I; helping patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
Performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the office running smoothly.
Additionally, Medical Assistant II will; have prior experience as a Medical Assistant; take ownership of his/her work; be able to work under limited to no supervision.
Duties and responsibilities
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
Prepares patient for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
Counsels patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions about surgery.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; replacing all used supplies.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenances; calling for repairs.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Serves and protects the cardiology & thoracic practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Assists with answering phones or checking-in as needed.
Travels between offices daily/weekly to assist your doctor.
Maintains polite, courteous attitude to all callers and patients.
Follows all HIPPA guidelines.
Prepares charts for your doctors clinic – requesting all necessary medical records/cd.
Tracks all future orders on excel provided by your manager.
Uses RingCentral to communicate to all physicians Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Obtains authorizations for all necessary medical office test/procedure.
Send your doctor or back-up doctor daily schedules.
Assist your doctor daily – follow up on prescription, phone messages, etc.
When another Medical assistant is absent you are responsible to fulfill all daily / weekly duties in their absence.
