The Build & Release Engineer II is a crucial part of our award-winning research and development team in Fremont, CA.
The main responsibilities of this position include automation of the CI pipelines for compiling, testing, and releasing software applications, and maintaining the stability of our critical backend systems like Jenkins and SVN.
The approved salary range for this role is $120,000-$140,000 annually, with full benefits.
What is your Daily Impact at SMT? Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, as well as other teams within R&D, you will be paving the path that our sports broadcast and data collection products take to exceeding the expectations of our clients.
No two days at SMT are the same, but you can expect the following on a day-to-day basis.
Working Hands-On With Backend Systems: Knowledge of Jenkins is paramount in this role, from designing and debugging build automation environments to the setup and management of the build servers.
You will consistently be seeking ways to improve the integration of CI/CD tools.
Your duties also includes the management of Tortoise SVN source control, branches of code, and branch merges.
Build Management: You will be the expert on build management for our team.
This will include automating build tasks using scripting languages like Python and Shell.
The role includes oversight of planning, testing, and support of software releases as well as creating and maintaining documentation for build systems and environments.
Lastly, you will proactively seek out tasks and take ownership to improve all parts of our product suite including software systems, QA processes, and build and release processes A Collaborative Team-Player: Collaboration is a big part of SMT's culture! You will work closely with our development and software quality assurance teams to support and improve their automated build needs, and develop procedures to maintain code base integrity, including check-in validation rules and branch/merge processes.
If an issue arises with Visual Studio, you will diagnose and troubleshoot it, while keeping the team aware of it.
You will also contribute to automation QA testing of our software products and applications.
What Do You Bring to SMT? Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or 3-5 years of experience in similar roles required Proficiency with Python, Apache Groovy, PowerShell, and Bash languages Experience with setup and troubleshooting Jenkins master and slave agents Experience with Jenkins Declarative pipelines Version control experience in SVN Tortoise, including branching and merging philosophy Experience with setting up Visual Studio Server systems on physical or virtual machines Programming knowledge of C++ and use of Microsoft Visual Studio (2017 and 2022) Experience with Linux Who is SMT?
