Discover Books has an immediate opening for a 26ft Box Truck Driver / Loader to support our used book collections process for online sales.
This position requires previous Box Truck driving experience, a clean driving record (last 5 years), and have or willing to acquire a DOT card.
This is a physically demanding role which will require you to load the truck with used books at each stop on your route.
*Shift Available: 2nd shift (Monday - Friday / 2:00pm - 10:30pm)*
*Role and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):*
* Drive assigned routes daily, using the most direct route possible between stops to pick up bins and other product
* Move full containers onto truck and secure them for safe delivery to the warehouse
* Load/unload containers by forklift or pallet jack
* Unload, weigh, and record weight of containers
* Maintain equipment and accurate logs, and notify management of any issues
* Assist with decals, repairs, and management of bins/sites
* Train new drivers regarding company policies, safety, and best practices
* Assist management with other support tasks and fill in as needed
*Qualifications and Education Requirements:*
* Must have a valid driver’s license
* Must have a valid DOT medical certification card
* High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
* Must have no major violations on their driving record within the last 5 years
* Must be able to lift at least 60-80 pounds from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, and over shoulder on a consistent basis throughout the shift, with minimal breaks of no longer than 10-15 minutes
* Must be able to push/pull wheeled bins of at least 500 lbs.
* Must be able to bend, lift, and move books from one container to another
* Must be able to climb in & out of the truck cab as well as the truck bed safely
* Ability to learn and apply new concepts, communicate easily, and come up with solutions to problems
* Ability to compute simple math
* Must have the ability to stand, push, and pull repeatedly throughout the day
* Self-starter – Must be able to work efficiently with little to no supervision
* Excellent attendance and punctuality are required; Ability to work overtime as needed
* Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend conversational English to be able to read stock orders, safety rules, and instructions in the use of equipment
