Assistant Professor of Communication (full-time, tenure-track)

Description:Faculty Responsibilities:
A full-time assistant professor with specialization in quantitative methods and communication theory.
Primarily responsible for instruction of mixed research methods at the graduate level and introductory communication and theory courses at the undergraduate level.
Candidates should have significant experience in teaching quantitative methods using survey and experiment or content analysis.
Priority will be given to applicants with secondary familiarity in qualitative methods.
A strong understanding of and commitment to the broader components of the Communication field would show preparation for instruction in general courses within the department, such as lower division intro and theory courses, as well as mentoring of and academic advising of students in the undergraduate major.
In addition to teaching, the duties of this position consist of significant service to the department and program, likely including student advising in the undergraduate Communication Major, advising of the Communication Club, and assistance with assessment of graduate curriculum.
There will likely be opportunities to participate in developing innovative new undergraduate and graduate programs and certificates as well.
Saint Mary's faculty are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda and demonstrate intellectual growth and significant achievement appropriate to their field.
All faculty also contribute to the mission in alignment with Transformation 2028 strategic priorities and as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, and interdisciplinary programming.
All faculty serve the College and community in many ways, such as academic advising, student and community outreach, participation in departmental and College-wide committees, and the development and assessment of the College's Core Curriculum.

Qualifications: Faculty Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.
D.
or equivalent degree in Communication or related field with evident teaching experience and scholarship.
Demonstrated expertise in quantitative methodology, scholarship, and pedagogy.
Minimum 2 years teaching experience at the college level.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to a mixed-methods approach that combines both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
Demonstrated experience in working in/with marginalized populations and groups.
