Qualifications:
Organisms and Evolution Laboratory (BIOL 202L) is designed for majors and others requiring a rigorous introductory treatment of the subject.
This course is a systematic introduction to all forms of life, covering all three domains: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
To account for lifes unity and diversity, the guiding principle for the course is the concept of evolution.
Through the study of the molecular evidence, morphology, physiology, development, and behavior of each type of organism, we provide a broad understanding of the evolutionary origins and phylogenetic relationships of all forms of life.
Required for biology majors and prerequisite to ALL upper-division courses.
This course will be taught in person on the Moraga campus during the 2024 Spring term on Monday from 1:30 - 4:30 pm.
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
To ensure consistency between sections of this multi-section course, instructors will faithfully implement the syllabus, experiments, laboratory activities, assessments, and/or grading standards provided by the Lab Coordinator or Department Chair.
The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in an area of Organismal or Evolutionary Biology; and undergraduate Teaching experience in an introductory biology lab course for majors focusing on organismal and evolutionary biology.
Preference will be given to those who have previously taught BIOL 002L.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $4,966 - $6,872 (2 workload units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
