*Position Summary* Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels.
Serves as an informational resource for students, parents, school personnel, and community organizations.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* * Implements adopted academic and functional skills curriculum for students with extensive support needs.
* Ensures all lesson plans are aligned to students’ Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals and standards.
* Coordinate curricular areas to help establish a personalized program for each student as needed * Evaluate effectiveness of strategies and techniques used and adjust instruction and delivery as needed.
* Responsible for providing consistent and appropriate updates and communication to families and staff regarding students * Evaluates progress on students’ IEP goals for the purpose of reporting student progress and present levels.
* Coordinates services for students with service providers and other educators for the purpose of ensuring efficient instructions and an effective cohesive program that supports IEPs * Implements all behavioral supports and Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) reflected in each student’s IEP.
Models and trains classroom support staff appropriately.
* Implements evidence-based Practices for students with Autism and other developmental disabilities.
* Teaches/instructs students for the purpose of ensuring successful progress towards student’s goals and objectives and maintains an ongoing data collection system to report progress.
* Collaborates with support staff to ensure students receive consistent and meaningful interventions and instruction.
* Provides training to other educators as needed.
* Schedules services for students for the purpose of providing efficient and effective services for students.
* Develops and implements modifications and intervention strategies based on student need, models and trains support staff as required * Administers formal and informal educational assessments * Develop and maintain daily classroom schedule with approval of the Non-Public School Director.
* Attends regular core, team, and provider meetings as required * Assess students regularly, using informal and formal assessments.
* Develop and modify curriculum as needed to ensure student educational gains *Other Expectations:* * Actively support the organization’s mission, vision, values and goals * Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIIPA/FERPA laws * Follow all policies/procedures relative to implementing Specialized Academic Instruction * Follow and uphold all Summa Academy policies and procedures as outlined in the handbook, policies and procedure documents and any additional communications with regards to policies and procedures * Provide a learning environment that allows for individual differences and respect for the dignity and worth of each student * Always communicate appropriately and professionally with colleagues *Desired Education and Qualifications* * Bachelor’s Degree including appropriate coursework in education * Special Education Credential or Resource Specialist Certificate (or eligible for an emergency credential or waiver) * Valid California Driver’s License * Minimum two years of teaching experience, special education preferred * Proficiency in written and spoken English language * Mastery of basic math and algebra * Ability to use Microsoft programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and communication via email, and Google documents.

* Flexible and willingness to work as needed at each Summa School location * Ability to collaborate with and support various staff members and leadership * Strong commitment to training and ongoing professional development * Ability to adhere to organizational policies, ethical, and legal guidelines *Work Environment & Physical Demands:* * The position typically operates on-site, in-person, in a school environment with business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00 pm.
The position hours are 8:00-4:00 PM but may require some evening and weekend work as needed.
* The employee may be required to intervene and de-escalate physical and emotional outbursts by students, including such behaviors as kicking, spitting, hitting, scratching, biting, running, and cursing; the employee must be able to run quickly for brief spurts.
* Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time * Must be willing and able to restrain, hold, transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan while working with children with challenging behavior (specific to Safety Care guidelines).
* While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, move and walk at a brisk pace, sit, and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach.
* The position requires the ability to accompany students anywhere on school premises, including supporting with toileting and other basic needs * The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
* Employee must be physically able to implement Safety Care and ABA procedures, and to perform crisis intervention training and techniques Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.
00 - $105,000.
