Job purpose
The Girl's Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in managing a team including assisting the Head Coach at practices, games, and helping to motivate players, and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques.
Duties and responsibilities
Overall responsibility:
Serve as an ambassador of JustHoop demonstrating our mission and values in a positive and professional manner and acting as a role model of the JustHoop Brand.
Assisting the Head Coach in managing a team of up to 12 kids including coaching at practices and games.
Timely and effectively communicate with players and parents throughout the season.
Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Respond to players, parents and colleagues' needs.
Support the Head Coach in holding a preseason meeting with all student athletes and parents before the first official game.
Practice Sessions
Maintaining a strong knowledge of the daily workout.
Conducting workout according to Just Hoop Inc.
curriculum.
Providing the players with constructive criticism.
Encouraging and motivating the players.
Help to build the Just Hoop Inc.
culture.
Game Day Role
Arrive early to set up a facility and court.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum High school varsity playing experience.
First Aid and CPR certified.
Proven work experience as a youth sports coach.
Youth teaching experience is preferred.
Maintain high energy and enthusiasm.
High standard of ethics and integrity.
In-depth knowledge of sporting strategies.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Patient and understanding.
Positive coaching philosophy.
Excellent attendance at practices and games.
Working conditions
This position requires regular evening and weekend availability.
Work is primarily performed on a basketball court with appropriate climate controls.
Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work is required.
Physical requirements
Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate.
Be able to stand and walk the court without difficulty for an extended period of time.
Must be able to physically demonstrate the sport.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important.
