Department Overview
The men and women of Gas Transmission Portfolio Management (GTPM) ensure the delivery of safe and reliable gas service to our customers through the execution of the capital and expense portfolio.
GTPM is responsible for every aspect of project delivery including planning, engineering, construction, restoration and closeout.
Position Summary This position reports to the Pipe Replacement and Strength Test Workstream Manager and is responsible for leading a team of project controls analysts (bargaining unit employees and non-employees) that directly support Gas Transmission project and program teams.
This includes engaging with key stakeholders on planning, forecasting, order management and ensuring the project costs are captured accurately during the project lifecycle.
Headquarters are Bishop Ranch, San Ramon, with limited travel, primarily to attend meetings or project sites across PG&E’s service area.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability as a leader to develop, motivate, and train a diverse group of Bargaining Unit professionals to meet or exceed challenging business objectives in a project controls, project management, operations finance, or similar environment.
The candidate will possess the poise and interpersonal skills to work successfully with varied levels of staff and across stakeholder departments.
The candidate will have strong organizational and planning skills, with evident initiative and enthusiasm for the development of team members and the effective support of project teams.
In addition, the candidate will have proven process analysis and improvement skills.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
The a ssigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.
This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.
The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is: Bay Area Minimum: $118,000.
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000.
Job Responsibilities Lead a diverse team of project professionals (ESC represented and non-employees), focused on continuously demonstrating improvement in its capability to deliver successful project-controls outcomes and effectively communicate strategy, process and procedures.
Mentors and coaches team members, providing frequent feedback.
Provide consistent and accurate direction on project controls responsibilities including project standards-driven requirements, IT tool-enabled processes, and best practices Enable the resolution of complex problems having broad program impact with subject-matter-experts or stakeholder leadership in other departments Participates in the development of a strategy for high performance team that accurately reports on forecast and cost performance.
Conducts formal feedback sessions with stakeholders Implements and effectively uses company and industry standard program/project controls systems Lead and/or actively participate in special initiatives, as needed, and complete assigned tasks with quality and on a timely basis; and Actively identify, manage, and successfully implement process improvements that contribute meaningfully towards the group’s ability to support Gas Safety Excellence goals, specifically improving safety, reliability and affordability in Gas Operations.
Qualifications Minimum : BA/BS, preferably in an engineering, building construction, construction technology, business, economics, accounting, construction management, computer science, mathematics or related discipline or equivalent experience 5 years of experience in project management, program/project planning earned value management or related experience including project controls Desired : Detailed knowledge of and ability to train personnel on the procedures, methodologies, IT tools, and deliverables required for comprehensive project controls within PG&E, specifically including 3 years SAP experience, including Business Objects and/or Project Systems Proven ability as a leader to develop, motivate, and train a diverse group of professionals to meet or exceed challenging business objectives in a project controls, project management, operations finance, or similar environment Ability to develop working relationships with stakeholders where operations, service, support or other interdependencies exist Knowledge and understanding of key drivers affecting Gas Transmission construction project outcomes Working knowledge of Capital Accounting Guidelines and Enterprise Program Management Standards #featuredjob
