The Global Technology Sourcing Team on Infra Supply Chain moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain.
The Technical Sourcing Manager is the primary technical contact for supplier engagement and management with network system suppliers.
The Technical Sourcing Manager will work closely with the rest of the Commercial & Technical Sourcing team to drive strategic decisions and roadmaps for Meta’s Network Infrastructure at global scale.
In partnership with the Network Engineering Team, the Technical Sourcing Manager will help develop, communicate and implement sourcing technology strategies and participate in supplier engagements with an overall focus of influencing technology roadmaps, maintaining long term supplier relationships and managing to the lowest total cost of ownership.
Technical Sourcing Manager, Network Systems Responsibilities: Develop, manage and refresh individual and customized technology roadmaps that influence sourcing strategies for each actively managed technology (Backbone and Cloud Network Switching, IP Routing, Switching).
Lead the creation and definition of future technology directions for network systems and drive supplier technology roadmaps with internal cross-functional partners to ensure Meta’s architectural and technical requirements are met, as we employ new design models to increase the network efficiency, scale and reliability.
Develop and maintain deep technical relationships with executive management at core technology suppliers.
Lead the technical discussions with suppliers and provide the main point of contact for technical issues.
Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for Network Switching and Routing platforms and perform technical analysis and business due diligence on relevant Technology.
Provide technical, supplier expertise and consulting to cross-functional partners for technology migration and lower TCO.
Provide technical review and analysis, responses to supplier proposals and RFx's.
Resolve all technical queries arising from the proposal evaluation and quote process.
Drive pre-POR evaluation of key technologies usability/suitability within the Meta infrastructure.
Own technical expertise in supplier negotiations and provide review/input for product development including statement of work and master supply agreements.
Develop supplier technical process improvement plans to drive gains in cost, quality, reduced qualification and time to deployment.
Partner with the broader Technical Sourcing Manager team to shape the network hardware ecosystem roadmap including OEM and ODM suppliers, ASIC suppliers and Optical Transport suppliers.
Minimum Qualifications: Proven results driven independent judgment while coordinating people and technical resources.
Proven experience moving from strategy to execution and delivering results.
Experience influencing stakeholders and business partners.
Knowledge of supplier technology roadmaps and a proven pragmatic approach to influencing supplier product roadmaps.
5+ years of experience developing and managing product/customer/supplier technology roadmaps and/or supply chain/operations engagement with technology suppliers.
BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education.
Experience interfacing with internal and external partners in an entrepreneurial and cross-functional environment.
8+ years of technical experience in relevant networking technology areas or related industry.
Proven experience interfacing with and establishing technical relationships with senior management at suppliers and/or customers.
Preferred Qualifications: 15+ years of technical experience in the networking industry.
Masters or Ph.
D.
degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
Expert in layer 2 and 3 networking technologies, e.
g.
Ethernet, VLANs, IP routing, TCP/IP, Multicast, BGP, OSPF.
