We are looking for a leader in Transportation Planning, who can manage our Transportation Planning Section for the Northern California Area.
The Transportation Planning Section Manager will report to the Transportation Professional Services Area Leader.
The Transportation Planning Section Manager will collaborate with project managers, local and national subject matter experts, and business development and marketing teams to support the growth and development of our transportation planning practice.
The successful candidate will support current clients as well as pursue new clients in collaboration with our Market Sector Leaders in all market sectors, including Highways & Local Roads, Transit, Ports and Maritime, Freight Railroad, and Aviation.
The Transportation Planning Section Manager is an interdisciplinary team member who leads and participates in transportation project development from the conceptual phase through project implementation.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to oversee the transportation planning practice in Northern California while providing guidance and mentorship to junior, mid-level, and senior planners.
This role will support the environmental planning and engineering teams in our local, regional, and national transportation infrastructure practice.
Primary Responsibilities In the role of Transportation Planning Section Manager, we'll count on you to: Manage a department of the Northern California Area consisting of transportation planners and related professionals, in close coordination with the Area Transportation Leadership Take responsibility for the development, coordination, monitoring, and improvement of section staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers.
Serve a key member of the Transportation Planning Business Class and be responsible for the management of staff, business development, pursuit, and management of major transportation planning projects.
Engage in high profile project pursuits involving extensive client interactions in coordination with Area Business Development Leader Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multi-disciplinary transportation planning projects including but not limited to local and regional multi-modal transportation plans, travel demand and ridership forecasting, multi-modal modeling and simulation, zero-emissions mobility planning, transportation policy analysis and impact studies, traffic operational studies, regulatory reviews, private development, bus and rail transit studies, and environmental documents.
Lead scope development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple transportation and environmental disciplines.
Actively drive open communication of current/projected production needs and collaborate with management to influence staffing and expertise levels.
Coordinate project staffing and workload management of the transportation planning section.
Participate in and provide input to the Annual Budgeting and Strategic Planning process in collaboration with Area, Regional, National, and Global leadership.
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline required.
minimum 10 years of relevant experience with transportation planning projects and programs required.
Must have well-developed analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline required Professional registration such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred.
