HDR is seeking a highly motivated Rail Section Manager/Sr.
Project Manager to work as a leader in our Transportation Business Group and as a member of our Transit Market Sector, while also managing the Rail Section in Northern California.
This position is responsible for providing technical expertise in our Transportation Business Group and assisting with leading HDR’s transportation rail design team in Northern California.
Specifically, this individual will work with senior management to support business development manage and deliver projects, develop staff, and respond to client needs specifically related to Transit and Freight Railroad projects.
This is a seller/doer position and requires an individual with a strong character of self-motivation, nimble technical capability, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading railroad improvement projects with transit agencies, preferably in Northern California.
Experience in managing and mentoring technical staff is highly desirable.
Successful candidate shall demonstrate knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local standards and requirements and has an understanding of project delivery processes for various phases of project development such as conceptual design and feasibility, environmental documentation, preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E), and providing Design Support During Construction (DSDC).
In the role of Rail Section Manager/Sr.
Project Manager, we'll count on you to: Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and manage and coordinate services with other sections and business groups Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews in collaboration with the Transit and Freight Railroad Marker Sector Leaders.
Be directly involved with private and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at the project sites in conjunction with Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines Work with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller or Company Controller and Transportation Business Group Manager for project reviews Implement QA/QC procedures Implement, monitor and support company policy Select, train, hire, develop and manage technical personnel Manage and develop multidiscipline teams Work cooperatively with Regional and National Directors, Market Sector Leaders, and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts Interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills Perform other duties as needed *LI-MO1 #LI-MO1 Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Construction or Engineering related field Minimum 10 years of related engineering and progressive project management experience, preferably in the Rail/Transit industries Professional Engineer registration or license (PE) Ability to handle multiple assignments Good leadership and organizational skills Familiar with Microsoft Office and estimating and scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred) An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Preferred Qualifications PMP Why HDR At HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
