JFCS East Bay supports healthy relationships between young children and their caregivers, provides legal representation to immigrants, and helps seniors, holocaust survivors, and resettled refugees who seek to start their lives anew.

JOB SUMMARY The Refugee Mental Health Program provides mental health services to refugees, training for community providers, and consultation with other refugee-serving staff.
Reporting to the Refugee Services Director, this role promotes and strengthens the social and emotional well-being of diverse individuals and families throughout East Bay.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide mental health services: clinical assessments for adult and child therapy referrals.
Manage the agency's Mental Health Services Act Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) program in Contra Costa County, providing and coordinating services.
Develop training courses for providers to increase their capacity to serve refugee clients.
Provide or arrange for three Afghan women's support groups per fiscal year.
Provide consultation, training, and support to refugee-serving staff regarding mental health.
Develop collaborative relationships with community providers.
Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files to document client interactions and interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage, and family therapy or relevant to providing mental health services to refugees and immigrants Well-developed written and verbal skills in Dari/Farsi and fluency in English or extensive experience working with interpreters 2-3 years of experience providing mental health services to refugees and immigrants Current or pending registration with California BBS or BOP Clinical licensure preferred (LCSW, MFT, or licensed psychologist) Sensitivity to different cultures and a calm approach to complex situations Clean DMV record, current California driver's license, and car required Able and willing to make home visits and transport clients when necessary COMPETENCIES Ability to recognize appropriate boundaries Ability to cope with emotionally stressful situations Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Patience, compassion, flexibility Excellent interpersonal skills with people of all ages Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse individuals and institutions A high degree of cultural competence and sensitivity PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate via phone and email.
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
