Job Description:
The Acute Care Certified Hemodialysis Technician provides acute hemodialysis treatment for the hospitalized patient in the licensed Acute care hospital under the direct supervision of the dialysis registered nurse.
The treatment of patients by a hemodialysis technician includes performing venipuncture and arterial puncture for the purpose of providing dialysis treatment to includes the administration of administration of local anesthetic and sodium chloride solutions.
The administration of this medications shall be pursuant to protocol established by the medical director and shall be under the immediate supervision of a licensed registered nurse.
The administration of local anesthetics shall be limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, or topical administration as per Business and Professional Code Article 3.

Provides quality nursing care to patients, implements specific procedures and programs; coordinates work within the department, as well as with other departments; reports pertinent information to immediate supervisor; responds to inquiries or requests for information; and assist the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations.
Education:
High School diploma, GED - Required
Experience:
1 year Certified Hemodialysis Technician Required - within last 3 years
1 year of Acute Care dialysis experience - Highly Preferred
1 year Outpatient dialysis experience Preferred
Additional Requirements:
Must pass the Ishihara Color Blind Test
License/Certifications:
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required
Certified Hemodialysis Technician - CA - Required
CNA Certified Nursing Asst - California Department of Public Health - Professional Certification Branch or
CCMA-C California Certified Medical Assistant - California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants Inc - Preferred
CPT1 Certified Phlebotomy Tech I - California Department of Public Health - Laboratory Field Services Branch - Preferred
Skills:
Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word and Outlook - Required
