As an Senior Scientist in the Molecular Diagnostics Assay Development Team, you will work in a versatile team supporting a variety of new product development projects using cutting-edge PCR technologies, in particular digital PCR and ultra-fast qPCR.
Your work will include developing new assays and PCR reaction chemistries, as well as adapting them to the needs of new instruments and product platforms as we continue our efforts to expand Bio-Rad’s offerings in Reproductive Health, Infectious Diseases, and Human Genetics.
You will lead technical subprojects, design and execute experimental plans, analyze complex data sets, and present findings to technical audiences and senior leadership.
This work will be done in collaboration with other Bio-Rad scientists working in multiple sites across the globe.
Additionally, you will follow design control procedures and product development processes by generating/reviewing required plans and reports.
Finally, your adaptability, quick learning, and troubleshooting skills will be exercised daily and will be essential to enable the team to navigate changes in project priorities or overcome technical challenges as they arise.
How You Will Make an Impact: You will advance the development of innovative molecular diagnostics assays that will ultimately benefit patients by leading assay development subprojects for next-generation dPCR and qPCR platforms.
Lead development of dPCR reaction chemistries, including those compatible with lyophilization.
Coordinate with teams across multiple Bio-Rad sites on large, high-visibility and high-priority projects.
Contribute to the management and smooth operation of the Molecular Diagnostics Assay Development laboratories.
Support Product Development Pipeline activities for new products, including congtributions to project planning and documentation.
What You Bring: Education: PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry with 3+ years of industrial experience (or MS/BS with 8+ years of industrial experience).
Track record of design, execution, and analysis of advanced molecular biology experiments such as nucleic acid sample preparation and PCR optimization.
Experience with reagent lyophilization and/or lab automation prototypes is a plus.
Adept with designing and executing DOEs and use of statistical analysis programs such as JMP, Minitab or R.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and to navigate changes of priorities.
Direct experience working under design control and product development processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, logical and analytical thinking, ability to multitask, work independently and on a team, and the ability to learn, troubleshoot, and problem solve are essential.
