The Creative Services Operations Lead directs, manages and inspires an in-house, multi-disciplinary team to successfully deliver on a range of creative services at an innovative, thoughtful, tactical and strategic level.
This role serves as a leader for the studio staff and team while partnering closely with the client leadership to align with and deliver against organizational goals and objectives.
The Creative Services Operations Lead role is rooted in operations, reporting, budget and business management and people development within a creative environment.
This person must be familiar with in-house creative team processes, requirements, reporting and telling the in-house team's story to clients and client leadership.
They are responsible for positioning the creative team for success by ensuring the right talent, processes and systems are in place.
This person must also exhibit outstanding creative services judgment and guide the team in achieving the highest possible standards for all communications materials regardless of medium.
The Creative Services Operations Lead obtains a working knowledge of clients' business challenges and inspires innovative and proactive solutions to address those challenges.
Responsibilities: Operational Responsibilities Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational improvements.
Provide strategic business advice and insights on best business practices to client-side upper management.
Create and provide necessary reporting and updates to demonstrate the studio's value.
Analyze agency metrics for use in continuous improvement.
Ensure team is compliant with all branding, operational, legal and regulatory mandates, policies and guidelines.
Build strong relationships with clients and be perceived as a credible, trusted advisor.
Project Management Direct staff to accomplish creative objectives.
Help inform and guide ideation and brainstorming on high-level projects.
Ensure consistent alignment with and growth of the brand.
Manage team to a consistently high level of quality as evaluated by senior leaders and clients.
Encourage development of new interpretations of the brand standards and out-of-the-box approaches to grow the verbal and visual identity of the brand as appropriate.
Confidently and diplomatically steward new ideas through the organization on behalf of the team.
Strategic, Management & Leadership Ensure the highest level of team performance through the implementation of operational, staffing, organizational and professional development best practices.
Create and promote a culture that values talent, collaboration, autonomy and accountability.
Align all studio activities with the client's goals and objectives, evolving as necessary and appropriate.
Build a trusting relationship with client leadership so they come to rely on your partnership.
Team Support Work harmoniously with others and lead the team in a collaborative fashion.
Share critical information and create a sense of trust through appropriate transparency.
Help set a tone of cooperation within the in-house team and across the organization.
Promote a "be of service" solution-oriented mentality across in-house team.
Find common ground with clients when debating creative or strategic opinions.
Give the team proper recognition and credit for their contributions.
Build a collective team vision and culture and define goals and objectives.
Develop, coach and mentor direct reports through formal and informal feedback, including annual performance review.
Implement team building and inspirational programs.
Mentor team in the ideation process leveraging research, analytics and brand insights.
Meet regularly with direct reports and other identified team members as warranted or appropriate.
Qualifications: Experience level: Director Bachelor's degree, ideally in design, advertising or related communications field.
Minimum of 15 years professional-level experience supporting client and/or creative services.
Minimum 5 years in-house/corporate operations, creative or communications department management experience.
In-house agency experience required.
External agency experience desired.
Superior customer service ethic, excellent client management and relationship building skills.
Solid understanding of the business and value of creative services.
Excellent people management skills and ability to inspire, coach, mentor and develop staff.
In-depth understanding of and ability to execute on metrics and data-driven best practices.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to apply strategic thinking to all business challenges and opportunities.
Deep and thorough understanding and application of operational best practices with proven results.
Solid understanding of building and managing a successful business.
Outstanding organization, prioritization and multitasking skills.
