Description: Drives evaluation, design and installation/execution of engineered solutions that result in optimized production outcomes and reduced cost.
Works cross-functionally to analyze and improve manufacturing methods and equipment, enhancing production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, control standards, etc.
Executes on assigned capital projects.
Primary Responsibilities: 1) Identifies, leads, develops and executes engineered performance and loss elimination solutions across the production facility ·Demonstrates expertise in machine, materials, methods, environment, regulations and people/ergonomics ·Identifies opportunities for improved equipment and process design by observation and evaluating factors such as downtime, equipment efficiency, new technology, quality, etc.
Designs solutions, and defines equipment needs and test methods, to address repeat problems or optimization opportunities, making 3D drawings and test plans, including plans for ergonomic tests Researches vendors, makes parts lists and ensure timely procurement of all components Commissions equipment May fabricate/tool, or lead the fabrication/tolling of parts and equipment May develop components and packaging labels, monitoring all engineering activities and keeping all relevant documents and test designs updated May help to establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation and may conduct periodic vendor reviews May negotiate favorable pricing 2) Acts as a technical resource and liaison to drive successful process improvement and commercialization projects Influences and develops technical capabilities among the team and on the production floor Develops and deliver technical training to ensure equipment installations or other changes/upgrades are successfully assimilated into day-to-day operations Partners with Operational leadership as required to ensure knowledge acquisition 3) Partners with R&D/Commercialization, Product Development, Operations and Procurement teams to execute on equipment and packaging designs and strategies Partners with internal teams to understanding equipment and packaging needs according to product, brand and regulatory standards; may design and test on both equipment and/or packaging aspects of projects, seeking ways to apply lean methodologies while managing projects to budget allocation Works with cross-functional teams to define various needs on production floor, which may include food processing equipment, testing equipment, packaging equipment and designs, etc.
Iterates effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure best outcomes 4) Implements engineering improvements and conducts post implementation evaluation Installs or leads the installation of new equipment Evaluates real-time effects on production and workforce utilization Leads, guides or performs equipment commissioning Recommends adjustments to settings and usage May instruct or train maintenance mechanic teams and machine operators on new equipment functionality and preventive maintenance Conduct periodic observations and tests to maximize implementation effectiveness 5) Applies design background and technical design skills to all drawings and plans Transfers complex new ideas into proposals for simple and elegant user-friendly, ergonomic designs Utilizes Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to generate conceptual layout drawings Attends on-line and in-person training as required to maintain the required skill sets May need prior knowledge of packaging and shipping test methods to assure packaging performance meets shipping stress 6) Performs other duties as required Requirements: Role-based Competencies Analytical Skills Process Design Critical Thinking Diagnostic Skills Background Requirement BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience in food manufacturing is required.
2-4 years’ progressively more responsible engineering experience in manufacturing environment is required, including packaging equipment experience.
A combination of education and experience may substitute.
Experience with Inventor and AutoCAD (SolidWorks, Pro/E or Fusion 360 may substitute.
) Must have outstanding ability to conceptualize and design complex projects in 3D space.
Should be able to perform all necessary calculations, such as stress analysis, performance analysis, pressure drop and flow analysis, etc.

Knowledge in the design, engineering and manufacturing of electro-mechanical controls is a plus.
PLC programming knowledge on Allen Bradley RS Logic 5000, Siemens Step 7 or equivalent PLC is a plus.
HMI programming experience is a plus.
Must have strong analytical skills.
Must have keen attention to detail.
Must have demonstrated team-first behaviors, humility and ability to effectively participate in brainstorming sessions.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential.
Must be able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variances, correlation techniques and sampling theory as appropriate.
Must be able to partner cross-functional and with the team on the production floor to ensure effective commission and ramp-up of new and improved equipment.
