Position Overview:
Under direction of the Plant Operations Director performs duties in the Engineering Department to maintain the Hospital and other sites as needed.
Performs visual checks, operates, maintains and performs repairs on mechanical equipment, electrical circuits, plumbing systems, performs fire alarm tests, generator checks and maintains detailed regulator documents as assigned.
All other duties as directed by the Plant Operations Director.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Customer Care
a.
Inspects, repairs, installs and performs safety tests on medical and patient equipment.
b.
Writes legibly in order to facilitate proper documentation.
c.
Follows through with tasks until completion and conveys completion or status to appropriate mangers and employees.
Communication
a.
Maintains harmonious relationship with guests, co-workers and other departments in order to insure quality service.
b.
Communicates with other departments and engineering managers when parts are needed to complete a repair or installation of equipment.
c.
Informs co-workers in the engineering department of status of equipment, facility and systems.
Shares information on acquired knowledge on systems and equipment.
Customer Satisfaction
a.
Accurately and promptly completes logs, work orders and records.
Reports and documents changes in systems, operations, drawings and procedures.
b.
Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe.
Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies in engineering and other departments.
c.
Completes jobs in a timely manner and has a minimal amount of callbacks on completed jobs.
Engineer Specific Performance
a.
Take responsibility for projects issued to him.
Completes these projects in a timely manner and assures a high quality of workmanship.
Assists in completing assignments that need to be accomplished on weekends or night shifts.
b.
Monitors and organizes Hazard Materials stored in engineering.
Works with outside contractors and Department managers on disposal of Haz Mat.
materials.
c.
Maintains, repairs and services hospital equipment, buildings and facilities.
Completes issued PMs in a timely manner.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma
Three years of education and experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and knowledge of all applicable codes.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
DL-California Drivers Class C
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
Five years of previous industrial /institutional plant operations experience.
Acute hospital experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively to employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures relating to equipment service, calibration and capacities.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
