Delta Field Division is looking for a Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic I who under direction of the Hydroelectric Plant Mechanical Supervisor and the direction of a Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic II; safely performs maintenance and repairs for the operation of hydraulic turbines, pumps, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
Performs mechanical installation, reconditioning or modifications in hydroelectric pumping plants, aqueduct facilities and other related project facilities.

Stamina to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and 50-foot towers; ability to move gas cylinders, tools, equipment or parts up to 75 pounds; access bridge cranes approximately 30' above floors and hydraulic systems approximately 100' below ground level; manual dexterity to weld, operate hand/power tools, assemble/repair equipment, and operate machine shop tools; finger dexterity to perform precision measurements with micrometers, thread small nuts/bolts; ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in confined and/or elevated spaces; ability to identify color coded piping systems, indicating lights, and hazard warning signs.
Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: We are looking for an individual who has knowledge of large hydroelectric mechanical maintenance and its equipment.
The Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic I role requires a combination of technical expertise using precision measuring instruments, problem-solving abilities such as fabrication of parts as needed, and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate has journey-level experience in maintaining, repairing, disassembling, and assembling large and complex equipment such as piping systems, gear boxes, drive mechanisms, pumps, compressors, hydraulic power and pressure units, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, valves, gates, trash racks, turbines, motors, and generators.
In addition, we need a candidate that has experience testing, adjusting, servicing, and maintaining various mechanical meters and gates used in measuring capacity, flow, pressure, temperature, and velocity of liquids and/or gases.
Experience using overhead cranes and rigging is ideal.
We need a candidate who can communicate effectively both verbal and written; is willing to work as part of a team and can work cooperatively with others; but also able to work independently; who is able to adapt seamlessly with change and changing priorities and love a challenge.
We need an individual who is able to maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance, and can exercise good judgement.
