Job Summary: The Designer Consultant will work with homebuyers to select interior finishes for their newly purchased home in the Napa region.
The Designer is responsible for creating a positive, welcoming, and relaxing experience for each homebuyer as they work their way through the selection process.
Selections include, but are not limited to, Cabinetry, Paint, Appliances, Plumbing Fixtures, Flooring, Countertops, Shower walls, etc.
Duties/Responsibilities: Meet with homebuyers at EBS designated location(s).
Weekend appointments as needed based on builder/homebuyer requirements.
Occasionally, browse/preview appointments may be necessary.
Contact the homebuyer within 48 hours of receiving buyer notification to schedule a sign appointment.
Prepare documents and design center for each appointment.
Set-up should be complete and Design should be ready to begin 15 minutes prior to appointment start time.
Evaluate homebuyer(s) needs and design aesthetic by asking qualifying questions to understand the buyers' ultimate design and function goals.
Sell upgrades.
Advise homebuyer(s) on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout, and color coordination.
Educate buyers on product characteristics, durability, maintenance, etc.
Accurately record product selections using established department procedures, systems, and practices.
Creates diagrams with installation details.
Supports all design center and homebuilder processes.
Works closely with Sales Agents at all assigned communities.
Works closely with the Estimating and Production Teams for custom pricing, product specification and installation questions, etc.
Performs other design center-related duties as assigned.
Demonstrates skill and ability to resolve homebuyer issues/concerns, etc.
Nature of this job requires initiative and independence.
Required Skills/Abilities: Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to apply a sense of style to create aesthetically pleasing interiors.
Strong visual design skills, including proportion and aesthetics.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Product knowledge and ability to understand how each product works or doesn’t work for each individual homebuyer.
Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisor(s) in a professional and courteous manner.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/Excel and Adobe.
Ability to quickly learn software programs sometimes required by Builder Accounts.
Education and Experience: High School or Equivalent Interior Design Degree a plus Construction-related experience a plus 5+ years’ experience working with/for a Residential/Production Home Builder.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to distinguish between colors.
