Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer interested in developing the next generation of quantum technology.
In this hands-on role, you will design opto-mechanical and vacuum systems central to fielding quantum sensors.
Ideal candidates are strong individual contributors that take ownership of their tasks while supporting overall team goals.
Requirements
What You'll Do
Work with a cross-functional team of physicists and engineers on mechanical designs from concept to implementation.
Plan, design, and develop hardware components and assemblies for existing and new products.
Design and integrate compact optical mounts, laser packaging, electromechanical assemblies, bonded optical assemblies, and fiber optics mounts.
Design and assemble ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) components, welded assemblies, and window flanges.
Design optomechanical fixturing for component testing and manufacturing.
Generate drawings; quotation and procurement of components.
Build, test, report, and document custom parts.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience.

persons” including U.
S.
citizens (born or naturalized), lawful permanent residents, and certain categories of refugees, and asylees.
Must be comfortable working in a laboratory environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and collaborators, both written and verbal.
Excellent attention to detail.
Required Expertise
Transitioning prototype instruments to small-scale production.
3+ years of CAD design (post graduate), specifically SolidWorks.
Experience with DFM, DFA, and manufacturing processes.
Understanding of material properties (e.
g.
thermal, mechanical, magnetic, etc.
).
Basic understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
Proficient in 2D drafting of mechanical drawings, specifically ANSI Y14.

Familiarity with basic mechanical and machine tools.
Nice-to-have Expertise
Experience with Solidworks PDM.
Understanding of FEA, specifically thermal and vibration.
Laser and photonic packaging and assembly.
Design of optomechanics, vacuum systems, lasers, or related areas.
System integration.

Pay Range
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, performance bonus, benefits, and equity.
The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $135,000 including annual bonus.
It's atypical to be hired at the top end of this range for the role, as actual pay is based on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience level.
