Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Project Manager to support our portfolio of work for transportation clients in California.
This position is open to any of our CA locations as you will be supporting projects throughout CA.

As a Principal Project Manager, you will be responsible for various leadership and project management duties on transportation projects.
Phases of projects for which management will be required include feasibility analyses; conceptual, environmental clearance, preliminary and detailed design; cost estimating; construction and contract management.
Responsibilities may include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, and working with technical and management groups in the delivery of a range of transportation projects.
Developing and presenting deliverables to clients for status, updates, reporting to a political board and sub-committees.
Managing project staff and subconsultants to keep projects on budget and schedule and within agreed upon scope.
Participating with senior leaders in the establishment of short- and long-term plans for the transportation sector.
Establishment and execution of plans for account management and business development.
Through your project efforts and involvement in industry activities, developing and maintaining client relations.
Actively participating in and supporting internal and external development and training activities.
Working with Resident Engineer in support of design work.
May need to take on Design Manager or Lead Engineer roles on large projects.
Managing, coordinating, and developing client proposals and interviews Candidates are required to have at least 15 years of progressive experience in managing municipal infrastructure projects through permitting, construction, and close-out.
Candidates with experience managing/constructing roadway infrastructure will be given preference.
Candidates are required to possess the following: Minimum 15 years of project management experience, within Caltrans Licensed California professional engineer Education background in Civil Engineering Effective oral and written communication skills Work experience in project planning and development Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project Ability to develop and control project scope Ability to develop and maintain project budgets Ability to develop and review project schedules Skilled in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate construction activities with the various project stakeholders Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges Ability to set and manage project expectations Must be knowledgeable in CEQA/NEPA Proven history of winning transportation design projects greater than $5M in revenue Salary Range: $220,000-$250,000 Benefits: 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, STD/LTD disability, holiday, PTO, parental leave and company paid life insurance Equality, diversity and inclusion We put equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all.
