*Sewing and Design Instructor - After School Program *
*Position Overview:*
The Sewing and Design instructor will guide students through the fundamentals of sewing, fabric selection, and design principles.
This role involves teaching students how to use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques, understanding fabrics and patterns, and developing their own design projects.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Curriculum Development*: Craft a comprehensive and engaging sewing curriculum that introduces students to basic and intermediate sewing techniques, including hand stitching, machine sewing, fabric selection, and pattern reading.
* *Instruction*: Conduct hands-on sewing classes that are age-appropriate, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and productive learning environment for students of varying skill levels.
* *Project Management*: Guide students through the completion of sewing projects that allow them to practice their skills and express their creativity.
* *Classroom Management*: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to explore their interest in sewing and textiles.
* *Safety Education*: Teach and enforce safety protocols related to sewing equipment and tools, especially sewing machines, to ensure a safe learning environment.
* *Communication*: Keep open communication with camp coordinators and parents about students' progress, camp activities, and any supplies or materials needed.
*Qualifications*
* *Experience in Sewing and Design*: Proven background in sewing, fashion design, or textile arts, with the ability to teach these skills to young students.
* *Educational Credentials*: A degree or certification in Fashion Design, Textile Arts, or related fields is preferable.
* *Communication Skills*: Excellent ability to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner to students of varying ages.
* *Creativity and Innovation*: A creative mindset with a passion for inspiring young minds in the field of design and textiles.
* *Organizational Skills*: Ability to organize course materials, manage classroom settings, and maintain sewing equipment.
